Keiko Amano MD

Keiko Amano, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the shoulder and elbow.

Dr. Amano began her educational career at the University of California, Berkeley, earning her bachelor’s degree in bioengineering. She then attended Georgetown University to earn her Master of Science in physiology. Dr. Amano then matriculated to the University of California, San Diego, to earn her Doctor of Medicine. Between her years in medical school, Dr. Amano returned her UC Berkeley/UCSF for an additional master’s degree in bioengineering, during which she earned the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor award for her teaching.

Upon completing medical school, she moved to Texas for an orthopaedic surgery residency through the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she won the “Golden Bone” resident teaching award in 2019. Dr. Amano furthered her education and training by completing an elbow and shoulder fellowship through Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

When Dr. Amano is not caring for patients, teaching the next generation of world-class surgeons, or conducting cutting-edge research, you can find her enjoying the outdoor California weather or exploring the various local restaurants around the area.

Dr. Amano is fluent in Japanese.
