Join the UCSF Fresno Surgery Department, the largest surgical training department in the Central Valley, and the Intentional Recruitment Coalition (IRC) for the 2023 Health Disparities Summit. This new symposium was created to improve care for certain disadvantaged populations in the San Joaquin Valley who may be negatively impacted by language barriers, socioeconomic status, cultural divisions, and more. This program will address these gaps in care and guide providers in addressing this challenging topic.

  1. Identify demographic risk factors for adverse cardiovascular events for better patient outcomes
  2. Incorporate strategies for improving cardiovascular in points and heart failure amongst different demographics groups
  3. Understand the health disparities that exist amongst racial/ethnic groups with breast cancer
  4. Describe strategies proposed to provide equitable breast cancer care to all patient demographics
  5. Explain how social determinants of health impact public health and learn ways in which to tackle disparities in social determinants of health at the public policy level
