Series Objectives

1. Understand key aspects of the latest advances in the pathophysiology, risk factors, and diagnosis of PE
2. Risk stratify patients into low-risk, submassive, and massive PE categories to better identify populations that are high risk for morbidity and mortality from their PE
3. Manage patients with both low-risk and high-risk PE with a variety of treatment options, including anticoagulation, medical and interventional lysis strategies, and surgical therapies
4. Describe the epidemiology, classification and pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension.
5. Determine who is at risk for pulmonary hypertension and effectively diagnose patients
6. Recognize the difference between PAH and PVH and how this translates into therapy.
7. Outline the current approach to pulmonary hypertension treatment in the presence of related or underlying diseases.
8. Incorporate novel therapies into patient care for improved outcomes.
9. Identify when to refer patients for specialty treatment.
