University Surgical Associates consists of a group of physicians specializing in surgical procedures. We maintain a patient centered approach to delivering safe, effective and timely surgical care.
While we offer a wide range of surgical services, our areas of specialty focus are:
Endocrine Surgery - a surgical procedure that is performed to achieve a hormonal or anti-hormonal effect in the body. This includes surgery on the thyroid, either for masses or abnormal function, surgery for parathyroid disorders, surgery for the adrenal gland and surgery for the pancreas.
General Surgery - is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs - e.g. intestines, stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and hernias. This also includes cancer surgery.
Vascular Surgery - is a surgical specialty that is concerned with diseases of the vascular system, arteries and veins. Vascular surgery evolved from general and cardiac surgery. A vascular surgeon diagnoses and manages diseases affecting all areas of the vascular system excluding the heart and brain. Cardiothoracic surgeons manage the heart; while neurosurgeons manage the brain.

Christina Maser, M.D., specializes in Endocrine Surgery. She is board certified in surgery. She completed her fellowship training at Yale College and her internship and residency training were at William Beaumont Hospital.
Dr. Maser worked with the leadership at Community Regional Medical Center to bring a new blood analyzer directly to the operating room. This new "mini-lab" is located near the surgeon and does away with the long wait during surgery. The test picks up a quick decrease in PTH which signals the surgeon that they got their target.
She enjoys outdoor activities, especially cycling.
Brent Jackson, 22, a newly married grad student with a football-sized mass on his thigh turns to Dr. Christina Maser for a diagnosis.
There are four tiny glands that sit in your neck that regulate calcium levels in your system. When one of those glands goes bad it can make you feel bad as well. One Valley doctor brought a new test to the operating room to help reduce surgery time for patients with Hyperparathyroidism.
